It would have a floating date instead of being on the 31st every year.

Would you want to see the date of Halloween changed?

There's currently an online petition that has gained a bit of traction to change the official date of Halloween from October 31st to the last Saturday in October. Thus making it a floating date kind of like Thanksgiving.

People say they would like to see the holiday always fall on a Saturday so they don't have to worry about getting their kids to school the day after trick or treating. Also, some people want to party on Halloween without worrying about being hungover at work the next day.

Halloween has it's roots in the ancient Celtic celebration of Samhain, which is always celebrated on the 31st.

Personally, I think it's dumb to change the date. The Halloween parties you go to are always on the last Saturday of October anyway so it doesn't really matter.
